​Tyvonn Byars is a freshman running back for Rice University. At Lake Creek High School, he amassed 5,393 rushing yards and 106 touchdowns over his four-year career, averaging 7.4 yards per carry. His senior year saw him rush for 1,540 yards and 30 touchdowns. Byars was recognized as the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association 5A Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 and earned first-team all-state honors. He committed to Rice in June 2024, choosing the Owls over offers from Houston, Texas Tech, Memphis, and others.
